Improving Coastal Bend Schools Together

About Us

Goals

  • Educate:  Be recognized as an important source of information on education issues.

  • Engage:  Raise awareness of education issues and obtain support for action. 

  • Coordinate:  Work with other organizations to promote improvement of education in the community. 

Accomplishments

Since being formed in 2003 by the Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce Foundation, CEE has sponsored several community forums which have addressed issues of drop-out prevention, high school reform, and teacher quality. CEE’s initiative in high school reform dialogue led to a grant being received by Corpus Christi Independent School District from the Texas High School Project and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to create CCISD’s Collegiate High School on the campus of Del Mar College.  CEE joined with the regional P-16 Council, Coastal Bend Partners for College and Career Readiness, in 2009.

Current Projects

  • Co-sponsoring programs with the Coastal Bend Partners for College and Career Readiness, P-16 Regional Council.
  • Hosting the annual Feria Para Aprender  (The Learning Fair) for parents and community members
  • Co-sponsoring Ready for College and Career (R4C2) Conference for high school seniors
  • Sponsoring business/community luncheons
  • Providing professional development for educators
  • Grant writing for school improvement initiatives
